It is with much sadness that we report the death, after a short illness, of our co-founder, Peter Gillard, on Tuesday 24th November 2015.
Peter was deeply involved in the plastics & rubber industry since the mid-1950's and was an Associate of The Plastics Institute.
He co-founded Gillard & Co. in 1968 with his father, Arthur Gillard. The business was incorporated as Peter Gillard & Co. Limited in 1971.
Peter served his engineering apprenticeship at English Electric in Rugby in the early 1950's. After service in the Royal Navy as an engineering officer, Peter joined Barand Limited in Maidenhead. Here he was responsible for designing a range of plastic processing machines, including single & twin-screw extruders.
In the 1960's Peter continued working in the plastics industry, first at R.H. Windsor in Chessington & then at B.T.L. Mould & Die (later Betol) in Luton before starting his own plastic machinery business in 1968.
He was actively involved in this business until his retirement in 1995. Thereafter he kept a keen interest in new developments right up to a few days before his death.
Peter will be sadly missed by his family & all his former colleagues.
Gillard mark their 50th Anniversary in 2018.
